The appts. cleans contaminated catheters and endoscopes inside and outside. The ultrasonic energy is supplied to working and biopsy channels. The channels are filled with cleaning fluid. The energy is supplied via a flexible waveguide. The waveguide is moved in and out of the channels. Photosensitive agents are dissolved in the cleaning fluid. The fluid is irradiated by light of suitable wavelength such that radicals are formed. The cleaning fluid may have a phthalocyanine. The radiation energy is transmitted to an acid in the fluid. The resulting radicals destroy the structure of the impurity or biologically deactivates it. The light source is a laser, where the ultrasonic energy is transmitted via metallic capillary and the laser energy is transmitted via an optical waveguide. The waveguide is guided in the capillary so both waveguides are inserted together in the inner lumen.
