In a process to transport and place essentially dry material especially animal foodstuffs in a subsurface store, the materials are placed in e.g. separate truck compartments and are transported to the storage location. The truck outlet is positioned over the storage bunker inlet, and opened. All or part of the load is discharged through the truck outlet into the storage bunker.
