A pump assembly comprises a hydraulic fluid pump (10) having a housing (12) assembled from a plurality of housing components (14, 16, 18) that are pinned (68) together rather than being claimped together by bolts. The pump is disposed in a cavity (12) in a valve block (74) so that the outlet fluid pressure from the pump is applied axially to the housing components to create a greater external axial force on the pump components that the internal axial force and thereby maintain the housing components in tight, sealing relation without the need for clamping bolts or other clamping means.
