Single-shaft vehicle gear selector mechanism with gear-selection lock

A vehicle gearbox has a gear-selector shaft (2) which is essentially parallel to the wheel axle, and located within a gearbox housing. The selector shaft has a number of linkages (16,22,32,42) which effect the gear change and simultaneously arrest the gears not selected. The linkages have locking units which arrest the selected gears in the selected position.
