The maneuvering guard(7) is flat in construction, and has a means of mounting by which it can be detachably fitted in the region of the bumper(2). The guard, at least in the proximity of the trailer coupling(3), lies on the outer side of the bumper. The guard may be made of a resilient or rigid material and conforms to the contour of the bumper. The guard may have a lining(8) on the bumper side with shock or impact absorbing characteristics.
