The valve creates pressure in the input line of a hydraulic tool. It includes a sprung valve member and a closing piston. A damping or compensating device (64, 68, 70) for the closing piston (56) damps or eliminates oscillation of the closing piston while the setting of the closing piston is altering dependent on the mean pressure in the passage (26, 28).
