The apparatus suppresses the total echo, made up of several partial echoes using adaptive FIR filters. For m parallel channels, n similar FIR filters are implemented on a single application specific integrated circuit (ASIC). The total or partial echoes to be reproduced are calculated in real time on the ASIC. A digital signal processor can control the ASIC, and calculates the required coefficients. A method of operating the apparatus is also claimed. |
