Radial leakage reduction system for regenerative air preheater

The air heater for a boiler comprises a rotor (1) fitted with several heating elements supported by diaphragms (3). A stator (4) is formed by a sealed metal casing and radial seals integrate articulated sector plates (6) above the heating elements. Radial seals (8) are provided on the diaphragms. Mechanical members (9) act on the operating clearance (10) existing between each plate sector and the radial seals. The mechanical members are controlled by regulators (11) connected to working information members (12) of the operation of the boiler. These regulation members integrate a deformation law of the sector plates enabling each plate position to be permanently set relative to the radial joints as a function of the transmitted working information.
