A compound-eye crime prevention sensor system is constructed which reliably distinguish between a human being and a small animal irrespective of the distance from the detector. This system has zone spacing changing means such that when the detection zones A and B of the detector 1 are at the farthest point L in the trespassing subject detecting range, the spacing between the detection zones A and B isθL and such that when the optical unit in the detector 1 is rotated to bring the detection zones to the position of a point S, the spacingθS between the detection zones A and B is greater than the spacingθL which results from adjusting the detection zones to the farthest point L.
