摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the subject compound with high sensitivity by allowing acylcarnitne esterase to act on the test solution followed by cycling reaction using L-carnitine dehyrogenase, NAD and reduced thio NAD. SOLUTION: To a test solution, is added an acylcarnitine esterase that has the substrate specificity to a lower acyl-L-carnitine, at least to acetyl-L-carnitine and propionyl-L-carnitine and catalyzes the reaction that 1 mole of a lower carboxylic acid and 1 mole of L-carnitine are formed from 1 mole of this lower acyl-L-carnitine and 1 mole of water. Then, a reagent containing L-carnitine dehydrogenase, A1 (A1 is a thio NAD or NAD) and B1 (B1 is a reduced NAD in the case of A1 =thio NAD, or a reduced type thio NAD in the case of A1 =NAD) is allowed to act on the formed L-carnitine to carry out the cycling reactions shown in the formula (A2 is the reduction type of A1 ; B2 is the oxidation type of B1 ) to determine the acylcarnitine from the amount of the product.
