APPARATUS FOR TREATING EXHAUST GAS OF ASH MELTING FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heat-decompose dioxin contained in exhaust gas and to facilitate the pretreatment of heavy metal smelting by placing a plasma heater between an ash melting furnace and a wet type exhaust gas treatment apparatus. SOLUTION: Exhaust gas 5 from an ash melting furnace 1 is heated by a plasma heater 2 before being introduce to a wet type exhaust gas treatment apparatus 3. The exhaust gas 5 from the direct current resistance type ash melting furnace 1 is mixed with plasma flame in the heater 2 to be heated at 1,000 deg.C or higher. By the heating, CO gas is burned and dioxine is decomposed. Heavy metal compounds of lead and others are converted into oxides in the presence of oxygen. The exhaust gas discharged from the plasma heater 2 is cooled rapidly in the apparatus 3 to prevent the resynthesis of dioxin. Since heavy metals such as lead are converted into oxide, only heavy metal oxides or hydroxides are contained in the filtlate of an absorption liquid 6, facilitating the pretreatment of heavy metal smelting.
