The pneumatic drive, to open and close the bobbin sleeve grip at a bobbin doffer assembly in a textile machine, has a differential cylinder (11) which is subjected to compressed air selectively on both sides of the piston rod (10) or only on the side away from the piston rod (10). This gives a variable clamping force on the bobbin sleeve, when the piston rod (10) is extended and the bobbin sleeve grip is closed at the end position of the piston rod (10).
