摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate image quality deterioration due to a positional shift in a main scan direction of dots formed at a first half scan and a second half scan by forming a plurality of kinds of dots in the main scan direction on the basis of a relationship of a plurality of kinds of dots and the main scan direction in a printing apparatus capable of recording bidirectionally. SOLUTION: In a printing apparatus in which a printing head 28 mounted to a carriage 31 is scanned in a main direction, thereby forming a plurality of dots on a printing medium according to image data and printing images, the printing head 28 is constituted of, e.g. six ink discharge heads 61-66 so that dots of two or more different densities per unit area can be formed. Small dots of a small diameter are formed when the head moves at a second half scan, middle dots are formed when the head moves at a first half scan and large dots are formed by overlapping the middle and small dots at the same position. A shift in the main scan direction for every dot, that is, among small dots, etc. can be prevented and high-quality high-speed printing is realized.
