1471789 Electrostatic recording head PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 13 June 1975 [18 June 1974] 25373/75 Heading H4F Each recording electrode of an electrostatic recording device comprises sub-electrodes insulated from each other and selectively connectible to a high voltage source so that "dots" of different size and charge density may be recorded. In a first embodiment, Figs. 1a and 1b, a recording electrode 1 comprises 23 insulated wires each of which acts as a separate recording electrode when connected to a high voltage. These wires are moulded into a square shape in an insulating material 4 and connected together in three groups comprising respectively the central wire 7, the middle ring of wires 8 around wire 7, and the outer ring of wires 9 plus the four corner wires. These three groups are connected to a high voltage generator 55 when switches 51-53 are actuated. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2b, a recording electrode comprises a central sub-electrode 12 and sleeve subelectrodes 13 and 14 insulated from each other. With three "groups or sub-electrodes" eight recording density degrees i.e. black, white and six grey values, may be recorded by selective actuation of switches 51-53, Fig. 3, not shown. |
