PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which can give a product having high heat resistance, excellent flame retardancy and good mechanical properties by incorporating a polyphenylene ether resin or both this resin and an aromatic vinyl resin, a condensed phosphoric ester flame retardant, a graft copolymer and silicic acid microparticles in a specified ratio. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 100 pts.wt. polyphenylene ether resin or both this resin and an aromatic vinyl resin such as a rubber-modified polystyrene; 1-30 pts.wt. condensed phosphoric ester flame retardant represented by formula I or II; 0.5-30 pts.wt. graft copolymer; and 0.01-10 pts.wt. silicic acid microparticles having a particle diameter of 0.01-0.04μm. The graft copolymer is obtained by grafting a vinyl monomer such as styrene onto a composite rubber comprising 3-90 wt.% polyorganosiloxane rubber and 97-10 wt.% polyalkylene(meth)acrylate rubber. In the formulae, R<a> to R<h> are each an alkyl, phenyl or an alkylphenyl; X is a 1-6C alkylene or -SO2 ; and p and q are each 1-30. |
