CALCIUM PHOSPHATE LONG FIBER ASSEMBLAGE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve moldability and mechanical strength by assembling many calcium phosphate long fibers having a specific diameter to form a meshlike structure and integrating the fibers with each other at crossing parts. SOLUTION: The slurry or solution is prepared by adding a Ca compound, a complexing agent forming a complex with Ca ion and a phosphate compound into water and mixing. The slurry or the solution is kept at a temp. of >=the m.p. to <=30 deg.C for a prescribed time and the deposit is grown to form an assemblage having the meshlike structure, in which many calcium phosphate long fibers having >=0.1μm diameter are integrated with each other at the crossing parts. The pH of the slurry or the solution is preferably controlled to 5-12. The resultant assemblage consists essentially of hydroxyapatite and is excellent in biological affinity and the organism derivation particle adsorptivity.
