Sensor touch panel for a display, e.g. for elevator

The electronic information display (12) has a panel with segments (24) coupled to a controller (14) and can be switched between different operating conditions. The front of the display surface (22) has an electrically conducting layer (26) that forms part of a capacitive proximity sensor. This responds to the presence of a finger (32) and allows selection of display functions. An Independent claim is included for an operating panel, especially for elevator control.
