The course and control limitations are input in a course generator or plotter in plot point by plot point manner as functions of s, the course distance, Us, the latitude for each point, lambda s the longitude for each point, /=Fs, the course direction (e.g. NE) at each point, Rs, the turning radius and vs the velocity. From the measured ship parameters, control values are determined in a transformer (36) and these can be used to adjust the ship course to the planned course.
