<p>The present invention relates to novel methods for detecting false negative results that can occur with conventional specific binding assays used for screening blood or blood derived products. These erroneous results can occur from either non-sample sources (such as operator error, electromechanical error, and assay component production error), or from sample assay interference (such as endogenous proteins or exogenous interfering chemicals). A single aliquot elevated baseline is used as an internal assay control to detect false negatives without requiring the use of separate assays.</p> |
