Surface cure of water-absorbing polymers for use in hygiene articles, packaging materials and nonwovens

Surface cure of water-absorbing polymers comprises treating the polymers with a surface curing solution and curing and drying by heating during or after treatment. The crosslinking agent is an ester (I) of boric acid with a di- or polyhydric alcohol, dissolved in an inert solvent. An Independent claim is also included for water-absorbing polymers produced in this way.
