The display device has a plate (5) with quadratic display pixels provided by bistable elements (1), rotated between their 2 stable positions for covering respective halves of each pixel surface, the opposite sides of each bistable element and the different halves of each pixel having corresponding colors. Each bistable element is controlled by a respective electromagnet, with the head of each electromagnetic coil attached to the plate and the foot of each electromagnetic coil supported by a carrier, provided with a respective LED for illuminating an opening in each display pixel.
