The invention concerns an asynchronous cell switching system comprising each a header field and a data field. At least some of the input modules comprise means for forming composite cells, for constructing channel data blocks, each comprising a channel data to be transmitted retrieved from the received channel data and at least an synchronous channel identity associated with said channel data to be transmitted, and means for selective multiplexing of channel data blocks intended for a common destination, in the data field of at least one composite cell. At least some of said output modules comprise means for processing said composite cells, including means for retrieving and identifying said received channel data blocks, using said associated synchronous channel identity means and means for transmitting to at least an output connection channel data pertaining to the different channels. |
