A vapor pipe(24) connects the fuel tank's vapor vent valve(41) to the filling pipe(16) in the region of its inlet(20). Vapor is drawn through the vapor pipe into the filling pipe if fuel is delivered to the fuel tank through the filling pipe in order to condense at least some of the vapor. The filling pipe has a check valve(26) and allows liquid to enter the tank but prevents a backflow.
