ANTENNA SWITCHING DIVERSITY

An antenna switching diversity radio communication system includes a base station and a radio terminal. Transmission and reception is separated in both time and frequency in both base station and radio terminal. Reception quality uplink is measured (S1) on a set of several antennas belonging to the base station. The base station stores and later retrieves this quality measure for selecting (S3) one of the antennas for uplink reception. The radio terminal measures (S2) and reports (S4) downlink reception quality to the base station, which stores (S5) this information to later select (S6) one of the antennas for downlink transmission.
