An ink tank (3) connectable to one of a plurality of ink jet print heads (2) and being detachably mounted on a carriage (5) having a mounting portion which is provided with plural partition ribs that together define a plurality of mounting locations (6) each of which is sized to mount said ink tank (3), said ink tank (3) comprising: a plurality of ink tank parts (3A); and an ink tank connection structure for connecting at least two of said plurality of ink tank parts, the connected ink tank parts corresponding to at least two adjacent mounting locations in said plurality of mounting locations, wherein said ink tank is arranged to avoid interference with an intervening one of said plural partition ribs provided between said at least two adjacent mounting locations (6).
