PURPOSE:To enable a lead protruding from the underside of a printed board to be constant in length by a method wherein a cutoff position switching section which makes a lead wire changeable in cutoff position is provided when an electronic component is cut off from a tape at its lead wire. CONSTITUTION:A lead wire section 11 of an electronic component train 10 is pinched by movable pawls 13, cutter blocks 1 and 2 are made to advance in the direction of an arrow 15, and an electronic component 12 is cut off from the component train 10 at the lead wire 11 and transferred to an insertion head. When the component 12 is cut off from the component train 10 at the lead wire 11, the shape of the component 12 is measured by a recognition device 15, and the lead wire 11 can be set constant in length 16 when it is cut off corresponding to the measured size concerned. Therefore, a block 9 is made to descend or ascend by driving a motor 8 linked to it through the intermediary of a pole screw 7, whereby cutters 3 and 4 are changed in position in the direction of an arrow 17 to enable a cutoff size 18 to be changeable, and the electronic component 12 is cut off from the component train 10 at the wire 11. By this setup, a lead protruding from the underside of a printed board can be constant in length. |
