Circuit for operating electric lamps

The lamp operating circuit has a rectifier (GR), pref. coupled to the mains network via a filter (FE), a self-oscillating DC/AC converter with a full-or half-bridge configuration and a trigger generator with a charge capacitor (C1) and a series resistor (R1) coupled to a voltage-dependent element, e.g. a diac (DC1). A discharge resistance, e.g. a transistor (T3), controlled by a signal from the DC/AC converter, is coupled in parallel across the capacitor, for controlled discharge of the latter, to prevent unwanted trigger pulses.
