Process for the selective elimination of ammonia or ammonium ions from an aqueous solution

Novel method for selective elimination of ammonia or ammonium ions from aqueous solution, especially waste liquor from flue gas desulfurization plant. The method comprises (a) passing the solution over or through an adsorption bed of zeolite mineral(s); and (b) regenerating the minerals, by replacing ammonium ions by alkali metal ions.
