PURPOSE: To output a control signal to a line pressure controlling means at the predetermined delay time interval from selecting operation from a range in which an engine brake is not actuated to a range in which the engine brake is actuated and to set varied delay times so as to effectively reduce a select shock. CONSTITUTION: In an automatic transmission Z, four solenoid valves 51, 52, 53, 54 in an oil pressure control circuit are controlled so as to be turned on/off according to respective control patterns by a control signal outputted from a controller Y on the basis of varied engine condition detecting elements such as a throttle opening signal and an engine rotational speed signal, so that respective friction elements are operated according their operation patterns, and the preset transmission range can be obtained. In this case, a delay means W such as a timer is arranged in a control system for a 3-4 shift solenoid valve 53, and increasing timing for a line pressure in selection from a D-range to the second range or to the first range is controlled by means of the delay means W. |
