<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the freshness of a plant such as one of green vegetables, flowering plants and fruit plants. SOLUTION: A solution having a pH of 7 and obtained by adding and dissolving 5-1 wt.% of trehalose and 0.1-0.0001 wt.% of water-soluble chitosan in distilled water is further diluted with water. Subsequently, a plant is dipped in the diluted solution, or the diluted solution is coated on the plant or the leaves of the plant. The trehalose is obtained by treating maltose with an enzyme and subsequently purifying the treated product. It can thus be expected that the flowering of a flowering plant is controlled or that the freshness of a leaf vegetable is maintained.</p> |
