PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an ink jet recording sheet having an excellent ink jet recording suitability. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an ink jet recording sheet comprises the steps of conducting two stages of a front stage and a rear stage as a coating method in the case of the method of manufacturing the ink jet recording sheet obtained by coating one surface of a continuously feeding web 11 with an aqueous pigment composition and drying it, and executing the rear stage coating 8 (or 9) without conducting a drying step after front coating step 6.
