PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound insulation material for an automobile improving sound insulating performance without increasing weight. SOLUTION: In this sound insulation material 3 for an automobile formed by a fiber aggregate, a location most distant from an end part or side surface of this sound insulation material constitutes a bulkiness part 2 of thickness larger than an average thickness of this sound insulation material, a thickness of the bulkiness part 2 is 1.2 to 1.5 times relating to the average thickness of the sound insulation material, an area of the bulkiness part 2 is 10 to 40% the total area of the sound insulation material, this sound insulation material is a polyester non-woven fabric of 0.01 to 0.15 g/cm3 average apparent density consisting of polyester fiber having a fiber diameter of 0.1 to 50 denier. |
