PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject catalyst excellent in heat stability when used industrially and expressing high reproducibility in long range preservation stability and activity by combining a tetravalent complex of a group IV metal with a metal compound or a cation generating agent each having a specific structure. SOLUTION: This copolymerization catalyst contains (A) a complex expressed by the formula [M is a transition metal of the group IV; the 5 membered ring is a (substituted) cyclopentadienyl; R<1> to R<4> are each H, a 1-12C alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy or the like; Y is C, Si or Ge; Z is N, P, C or Si; Q is N, O, S or O; X<1> , X<2> and R<5> to R<9> are each H, a 1-12C alkyl, alkenyl or the like; (n) is 1-3 and corresponds to the valence of a bonded hetero atom -1], preferably (B) an alkylaluminunoxy compound and/or (C) a cation-generating agent. |
