BRAKE PEDAL STRUCTURE OF AUTOMOBILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent application of collision load to a pedal arm by forming a projection on the front end of a connection part so as to press down a push rod and disconnect it from a lever when retreating input is applied through the push rod. SOLUTION: A push rod lever 6 is rotatably journalled to a pedal shaft 5. A push rod 11 is connected to the push rod lever 6, by engaging a pin 12 with a cutout 8 on a lower end of a rear portion of the push rod lever 6. A projection 7 is formed on the front end of the push rod lever 6, so as to press down the push rod 11 and disconnect it with the lever when front collision occurs at a car and retreating input is applied through the push rod 11. The push rod lever 6 is turned in the disengaging direction in respect to the pin 12 on the rear end of the push rod 11 and the cutout 8. In addition, the projection 7 presses down the push rod 11 so as to disconnect it from the push rod lever 6. Application of the collision load to a pedal arm 2 is thus avoided.
