PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compd. excellent in light and heat stability by selecting a metal ion supply compd. of a specific borate anion type. SOLUTION: A metal ion supply compd. of formula I is selected. In formula I, M is a metal ion, pref. Fe, Ni, Cu, Cr, Co, or Zn; L1 to L3 are each a coordination compd. capable of being coordinately bonded to a metal ion represented by M; p is 0-3; q is 0-2; r is 0 or 1; n is 1-3; and R, S, T, and U are each H or a substituent provided that they individually may combine with each other to form a ring and that they are not simultaneously H. Pref., the compd. of formula I is a compd. of formula II. In formula II, V, W, X, and Y are each a group of atoms necessary for forming, together with -O-B-O-, a 5 or 6-membered ring. Examples of the compd. of formula I are compds. of formulas III and IV. A color image excellent in fixability can be formed by forming a metal chelate colorant by using the compd. of formula I and a colorant capable of forming a complex with the metal ion. |
