PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new plant promotor comprising a DNA which has a specific base sequence and has an ability to work as a plant promotor, modulating the expression of cotton fibers or the like in a cotton plant, and enabling the improvement of the fiber properties or the increasing of the productivity of cotton. SOLUTION: This promotor is a new plant promotor containing a DNA comprising the base sequence expressed by the formula, a DNA comprising a base sequence which is prepared by loosing, substituting or adding one or plural bases to the base sequence of the formula and having an ability to work as a plant promotor, a DNA hydridizing with the DNA comprising the base sequence of the formula under stringent conditions and having an ability to work as a plant promotor, or the like. The promotor is useful for improving the fiber properties or increasing the productivity of cotton. This plant promotor is obtained by extracting a genome DNA in accordance with an ordinary method from leaves of a cotton plant of the genus Gossypium and subjecting the obtained genome DNA to PCR with an oligonucleotide synthesized from a base sequence of a tissue-specific gene of cotton fiber. |
