摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavation method by a tunnel boring machine, by which frictional resistance with a ground is lowered, power load for propulsion is reduced and smooth excavation is carried out even on the defective ground. SOLUTION: Excavated muck is taken into a chamber 10 partitioned from the rear-section side by a partition wall 9 through slits opened to the outer circumferential section of a cutter drum 1 as excavating a ground E by rotating the cutter drum 1 while taken-in excavated muck is discharged to a rear section through a screw conveyor 11. Bubbles are discharged into the chamber 10, the inside of the chamber 10 is filled with bubble soil mixed with excavated muck, filled bubble soil is forwarded to the outer circumference of the tunnel boring machine through the slits of the cutter drum 1 with excavation works and excavation works are conducted while forming a sliding layer by bubble soil between the shell of the tunnel boring machine and the ground at that time.
