PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve draining ability of a pneumatic tire having a pattern of directional property without sacrificing other performance. SOLUTION: Tread section 1 is provided with one or more peripheral grooves 2 to 6 extending along the periphery of a tire, and grooves 3 to 5 one of which is located on the equator of the tire or in the vicinity out of these peripheral grooves 2 to 6 are called central main grooves. The tread section 1 is also provided with a plurality of inclined grooves 10, 11 which extend aslant respectively from the central main grooves 3 to 5 towards the sides of each tread end 8 or 9 so that such inclined grooves enter the road-contacting zone in sequence as they move away from the central main groove 4 towards the tread end 8 or 9. On the central main grooves 3 to 5 and with groove sections 3a to 5a located between two adjacent inclined grooves 10a, 10b and between 11a, 11b extending respectively towards the same tread end 8 or 9, the sides 3a2 to 5a2 which enter the road-contacting zone behind in timing are made wider in their groove widths W3 to W5 and also shallower in their groove depth than the sides 3a1 to 5a1 which enter the road-contacting zone in advance. |
