PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymerization catalyst having high long-term storage stability and reproducibility of the catalytic activity and more easily synthesizable for industrial use by combining a tetravalent group 4 metal complex with a metallic compound or a cation generation agent each having respectively specific structure. SOLUTION: This catalyst contains (A) a complex expressed by the formula [M is a group 4 transition metal; the 5-membered ring is a (substituted) cyclopentadienyl; R<1> to R<5> are each H, a 1-12C alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkoxy or the like; Y is C, Si, Ge or the like; Z is N, P, S or O; X<1> , X<2> and R<6> to R<8> are each H, a 1-12C alkyl, an alkoxy or the like; L is 0-4; (m) is an integer of 1-3 corresponding to the valence of the bonded atom -2; (n) is an integer of 1-3 corresponding to the valence of the bonded heteroatom -1] and preferably further (B) an alkylaluminumoxy compound and/or (C) a cation generation agent. |
