The inventive heart valve prosthesis consists of a rigid annular support (1) for at least one valve flap (2), said valve flap being mounted in the support in such a way that it can pivot, and a suture ring (3) which is mounted on the outside of the support and which is connected to the patient's natural valve ring (10) by sewing once the prosthesis has been implanted. The support (1) is configured as a dilator (11) for the valve ring, starting from its upstream proximal end (7) and extending in a distal direction as far as the suture ring (3). Since the support (1) will dilate the valve ring (10) when the prosthesis is implanted, the lumen of the support (4) opening can be at least as big as the available lumen of the undilated valve ring (10) so that blood flows through the prosthesis at the same rate as it would flow through a natural heart valve without producing a pressure gradient which would be damaging to the heart. |
