The chuck has a chuck body (1) made of plastic, with at least one metal reinforcing body (12, 13) embedded in it. The chuck body has a spindle receiver (2) for fitting to the spindle of a drilling machine, and a tool receiver (3) at the other end. The body contains clamping jaws (6) projecting from the tool receiver, engaged via teeth (7) with a threaded ring (8) in the body.
