A high pressure cleaner (1) which comprises a motor pump unit accommodated in a housing with an electric motor to drive the pressure-generating pump, has the current supply of the motor made via an electric cable which at one end is connected to the electric motor and at the other end via a plug to a current source. The cable is constructed so that it can be rolled out from a spooling mechanism integrated in the housing or rolled up on this. The mechanism contains a magazine (21) which is fixed in relation to the device and is constructed so that it accommodates the cable. The latter is rolled up or out by means of a rotating component in engagement with the cable.
