The adjustment (2) for equalizing excess air-clearance between the brake shoes (3) and brake drum wall (4) has a two-part plunger rod (5) between the brake shoes and joined to them. The adjustment adjusts the length of the plunger rod only after a certain number of braking actions. The first part (6) of the plunger rod has an external thread, and the second part (7) has a longitudinal hole. The adjustment has a pawl mechanism (8) with pawl movable in relation to a braking action. An angled lever engages with the first plunger bar part which has an adjusting nut.
