A first lift transmission component (13) works on the one hand in conjunction with a first cam path and on the other hand with the valve shaft (10) of the gas exchange valve. A second lift transmission component (14) works in conjunction with a second cam path. The two lift transmission components are coupled to each other by a displaceable component in a first switch position and in a second switch position are movable independently of each other. A locking contour on the coupling component in conjunction with a counter component blocks the movement of the coupling component in defined positions of the camshaft or the lift transmission components.
