<p>Sewage sludge is treated by adding a finely ground vegetal substance, especially a straw granulate and a flocculant before the water is removed, by subsequent thickening when the water is removed and by composting the thickened sewage sludge to produce humus, especially in a layer at least 1 m, preferably 2.5 m high. The thickened sewage sludge is aerated during the composting process. The straw granulate/compost preparation combination provides humus soil with less than 5 % elutable nitrogen compounds.</p> |
