The configuration of the pool wall (4) and pool surround (6) are achieved using a correspondingly shaped pool shell (2, 3, 5, 11, 12), into which concrete is cast in a single step. Once the concrete has set the shell is then removed. The swimming pool has a pre-fabricated floor panel (1), a pool wall, and a pool surround including a waterbreaking edge (26) and overflow channel (36).
