A valve interrupts or allows the passage of a fluid medium containing an abrasive substance. The housing (1) has a spindle (5) which turns the valve (2). The housing is fabricated by a casting process using material which consists of a resin and a binding agent. The binding agent is a ceramic powder representing 70 to 90 per cent of the material by weight.
