Polishing process for optical lenses

The polishing process involves the use of at least two opposite spindles (23, 28) each with a polishing tool (24, 29). The lenses (14, 17) to be polished are fixed in pairs at the ends of a double-polishing holding device (19). This device is longitudinally sprung. The holding device with the lenses in it is pre-stressed by movement of the X and Y carriages (26, 22), at the same time setting an axial offset between the spindles, leading to an angled setting of the holding device. The spindles are rotated the same way to polish the lenses, with polishing suspension being supplied.
