A vacuum cleaner has a cable drum built into its housing whose cable-end output contacts are designed as plug contacts (9) and are connected by counter-contacts (15) provided on a circuit board (13) located in the vacuum cleaner housing near the cable drum. The plug contacts of the cable drum are aligned to be parallel to one another and protrude axially relative to the outside contour of the cable drum. The counter-contacts are designed as slotted contacts which can be brought into contact by a movement executed relative to one another, running parallel to the plane of the cable drum side concerned.
