PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify user operation when a desired word can not be obtained through KANA (Japanese syllabary)-KANJI (Chinese character) conversion by setting as the reading of a word to be registered the reading of a word in a specified phrase before conversion. SOLUTION: A character string as an object of KANA-KANJI conversion which is inputted by space-interposed writing in phrase units and held in an input reading buffer is analyzed and candidates for the output of the KANA- KANJI conversion are outputted to a homonym candidate storage memory 137. When a pattern of an example stored in a word dictionary 133 is present for the analysis result, a candidate for the object homonym of the example is selected as a preferential candidate. The 1st candidate of the KANA-KANJI conversion is determined among the selected preferential candidate and learnt candidates in a learning data dictionary 134 and outputted to, for example, an output buffer 141. Then a phrase candidate having the same reading with the determined 1st candidate is edited as a conversion candidate example on a candidate list memory 136. The output of the KANA-KANJI conversion among the contents, etc., of the output buffer 141 is displayed. |
